Hello

As I write this I'm sitting here in Greene County, upstate NY, at Wave Farm, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, working on my Residency, living in a wooden cabin for the last week, surrounded by bees, deer and apparently a big black bear that dares not show his face or paws to me. It's been an extraordinary adventure, far away from the big city, with an extraordinary outdoors live event, 'Spectral Garden' at the weekend, alongside Matthew Burtner and Nicholas Collins. An impressive electrical thunderstorm broke into the performances and with everyone running for cover just as I was about to begin. That's not typical though for my live shows!

I presented 24/48, a new work that compressed an entire 24 hour day into just 48 minutes, offering both a speeded up picture of the locality and a chance to playfully suggest an idea of what we miss whilst sleeping, yet drawing attention to the minutiae of every moment.

Whilst there I ventured down to Brooklyn for a night to perform at ISSUE Project Room, a beautiful silo, with a unique sixteen-channel hemispherical speaker array designed by Stephan Moore. Suspended in IPR's unusual cylindrical performance space, this unique speaker system allows a new world of possibilities for sound spatialization in performance and installation and I was extremely happy to present a work that radiated in all directions,

It's been a very restless month, beginning in Australia with Time_Place_Space where adventurous activities took place collaboratively with 20 artists, using all kinds of media, and then traveling across Amsterdam and Berlin for the closure of Sonambiente. With the assistance of QUT Brisbane and participants I was able to complete the project Nightjam.

In collaboration with Artangel Interaction, NightJam is a musical collaboration with young people who have been homeless. A limited edition CD is also being freely distributed through the website, so get in touch with them directly to claim your FREE copy, or simply visit and download the MP3 audio, film and photographs that we created.

NightJam is the latest project in Artangel Interactions Nights of London series of artist-led collaborations with people who have a special view on a hidden side of the nocturnal city, and an extension of my Night Haunts project with Sukhdev Sandu that I'm working on over year. I invited young people at New Horizon Youth Centre in Kings Cross to collaborate on a creative project that expresses how the city at night looks and sounds to their ears and eyes. Through music and voice workshops they explored the sense of freedom and fear, celebration and solitude of the concealing darkness. Meanwhile, they captured their nights on disposable cameras, taking images that are at times eerie, startling, contemplative and funny. NightJam presents these elusive visual and musical journeys through the citys quiet hours and will continue to expand with a series of freely downloadable mixes from a variety of artists over the coming months.

Closing the Sonambiente Festival in Berlin, a comprehensive sonic arts show, I was connected up to a machine to transmit a live image of my brain onto a screen, so it was the perfect opportunity to see how music would alter brain activity, and see how busy the little mouse that lives inside my head was that night.

Now I'm off to Marseille and Aix-en-Provence to prepare materials for the art festival Arborescence later this year, to The Big Chill Festival in the UK, to hit a rhythmic note with Pete Lockett as our Parallax Beat Brothers duo continues to beat down the boundaries (and guarantee weight loss), and then to Riga in Latvia to present new work at the Waves exhibition opening there. Another living out of suitcase month.

活在尘雾之中，没事也别想出去出去溜达两转，蒙头在改建的所谓旅馆中大睡，还是更喜欢一个人住的感觉。

 

因为隔床的男生还是有一点鼾声。。。。
